I'm a Barbie girl in a Barbie world..........

I made this card for my bff we are both total girly girls and love anything Barbie. I would be sooooooo happy if pc would come out with a Barbie cartridge, or even an 80's cartoon cartridge with Jem, Strawberry short cake, Garfield and of course Barbie.

I cut the girl silhouette using sweethearts and used the doily card from wild card. I got a new laptop so I couldn't use DS to weld my letters together. The way the letters are laid out looks a little awkward but considering the person I'm giving it to is completely clueless when it comes to crafts I'm not going to worry about it.

Challenges/link parties entered:
Challenge day 305: Stunning Silhouette...... with a twist at 365 cards

Update: I received a Spotlight Designer badge for this card! Yay!

gift wrapping

I think bows and tags are my favorite part of gift wrapping. I'm not very good at the actual wrapping part so I have to make up for it with beautiful decorations. Last year I kept putting off wrapping presents and ended up having to buy giftbags on my way to my mother in laws house christmas morning. Luckily this year because I made so many gift tags I was eager to start wrapping!

This is one of my favorite bows. I love to make it for presents and also hair bows. I think for the next gift I will attach the bow to an alligator clip so that it can be used as gift wrap and later a hair accessory I made the tag using the christmas cheer reeindeer and then decorated it whith stickles and rhinestones.

personalized tote bag

I'm  really bummed that my camera is still lost because I wanted to do my first tutorial on this cute tote bag. I'm assuming I accidentally packed it thinking I wouldn't need it and hopefully will find it after we move.

I'm happy I decided to make these because it forced me to figure out how to use my Cricut Design Studio. I bought it months ago and was so confused that I haven't touched it since. I also wanted a gypsy but because DS seemed so complicated I didn't want to waste more money on a product I wouldn't use. Does anyone know if the gypsy is more user friendly? I love the fact that you don't have to switch out cartridges when using it. I still need to play around with DS some more (or find a tutorial) today I just used it to see how big I should cut my letters.

The tote bag I used is 13.5 inches long and I cut my letters using Plantin school books size 2.5. This was my first time using a black tote bag and I later found out it will make the fabric that I use darker after it is ironed on. Oh well I still think it turned out cute.

I'm entering the challenge at cooking with cricut because I thought a tote bag would make a great stocking stuffer! This week’s challenge was all about Stockings and Stuffers. Anything with a stocking or anything that you can put in a stocking.
products used: Cricut, Design Studio, heat n bond, Plantin school books.

More gift tags

I made these gift tags for Peachy Keen Stamps Challenge 42: Emboss It.  The challenge is to create a card or layout using an embossing technique.

Stamps

My next goal is to start stamping. Up until now the only kind of stamping I would do was for heat embossing. I would love to learn how to make some of the adorable stamped cards that I have seen in challenges but I've always been too intimidated to try. There is just so much that I don't know about it and I'm not sure where to start.I know I need to get some markers to use after I stamp my image, does anyone know what the best markers for that are? Any advice would be great. Some of the stamps that I have been admiring are at peachy keen ( faces), my favorite things stamps, and my pink stamper.I haven't purchased any yet because I wanted to practice a little and make sure it was something that I could do. Last night I found an awesome blog http://freedigitalstamps.blogspot.com/ with links to some really cute FREE digital stamps. The plan for tomorrow is to buy some markers and practice on my new free stamps :)

Cricut hairbow

I made this hairbow for challenge me Monday #39 http://fantabulouscricut.blogspot.com/search/label/Challenge%20Me%20Monday

I love cutting fabric with my cricut and wanted to try using it to make a hair bow. I found this great tutorial http://notsoidlehands.blogspot.com/2010/04/freecycle-friday-repurposed-clothes.html and made mine using daisy2 (shadow) from the Walk in my garden cartridge.

Christmas gift tags

Christmas gift tags I made for a challenge at http://cookingwithcricut.blogspot.com/ the challenge was to make a holiday project without using red or green. The snowman is from the stretch your imagination cartridge and I dry embossed the tag using the Sizzix Texture Boutique. Please excuse the horrible picture quality I lost my camera and had to use my camera phone.

inspiration

I haven't had the motivation to do any crafts for a while mostly because I'm a perfectionist and wasn't happy with anything that I made so I quit. Last night I found http://embellishmagazine.com/blog/ and I'm so in love! I now realize that I wasn't getting inspired by most of the blogs that I've been following. I'm really excited to start participating in some of their challenges.

Thank you card

Here's a quick card I made with my Cricut (blurry picture sorry) I cut the lady bug and leaves with the walk in my garden cartridge and thank you was from sweethearts. I love decorating cards with rhinestones and cute bows. I really want to get the Sizzix Big Shot (obviously pink) so I can start dry embossing my cards. I'm going to add that to my Christmas list.

Welcome

This is my first blog. I'm very excited to start working on crafts and sharing them. Like most people I have many projects that I would love to do but never make the time to actually do them. I'm hoping that starting this blog will help motivate me to complete all the fun projects I have always wanted to do.
