Introducing Melania

Lately I spend my days and nights nursing my beautiful daughter and reading blogs. Because I have absolutely no time to craft anymore I decided I would start blogging about my daily life with (hopefully) a few crafts here and there.

So I have been spending the past almost three months (3months on Feb 9th) with this pretty lady.

Her name is Melania (like Donald Trump's wife) and we are soooooo in love.

Vegas themed birthday party

My Pink Stamper is having a blog hop and the challenge is anything birthday.

For this challenge I made a sign for my father in law's surprise 60th birthday party.  We chose Vegas as the theme so I wanted to make something similar to the famous "Welcome to Vegas" sign.

Blogger slacker and a new card

It's been four months since my last blog post and I feel like the biggest slacker ever! I do have a few really good reasons............ well more like excuses.

We moved in the middle of January and It took us forever to unpack, organize and decorate our new home. After we were settled in and I was thinking I would have some free time for crafting I found out that I'm pregnant! It was totally unexpected and not planned at all but we're both very happy with the news and also extremely nervous. I put off crafting some more so that I could do some baby research and planning and figure out what I'm supposed to do for the next nine months. I've had pretty bad morning sickness for the last three weeks and have barely made it out of bed. For some reason I always thought that morning sickness was something that pregnant women occasionally got and that it would come and go. Needles to say I was shocked when I realized  it would be a constant all day every day type of thing for me. I was terrified that I would be one of those women who had it for almost their entire pregnancy. Luckily this week I finally started feeling like myself again and decided to make my husband an anniversary card and enter a couple challenges.

Monday was our two year wedding anniversary. We had a destination wedding in Vegas and this year more than ever I was dying to hop on a plane and have a relaxing weekend on the strip. Unfortunately I was stuck in COLD Chicago. Our wedding color was Tiffany blue and added the lime green to make the card look a little more masculine. Lol, I'm not sure if it worked I didn't want the card to be too fancy or girly but I couldn't resist using a little bling.

Challenges:

PIO Romantic and Fancy
Card Makin Mamas  Embelish it

Michaels sale!!

The plan for yesterday was to work on a couple challenges but before I could do that I had to go shopping. I went to Hancock Fabric first and bought a bunch of ribbon for 40% off. I only recently started shopping there but have noticed that their ribbon doesn't go on sale as often as Michael's and Hobby Lobby. I found some Martha Stewart holiday stuff that was 70% off including the punch around the page sets which I  bought even though I still haven't figured out how to use the one I already have. I get really frustrated with her line of craft supplies because I have a hard time reading instructions that the directions in other languages written underneath the English ones. I have a hard time focusing on the ones I should be reading. Does that make sense? Maybe I'll try highlighting them so I don't get confused lol.

After that I went to Michael's and bought some of the limited edition one ounce stickles. The three packs were on sale for $3.52! I'm probably gonna go back today or tomorrow to get more. The best part of my shopping trip was the gypsy that I got at Michael's for $49.99! I was planning on buying one anyway and the best deal that I could find was $100 at paper crafting pro so I'm really happy I waited. Later I  saw on the cricut message board that Michael's had the cricut cake on clearance for $49. I would love to get one of those but haven't had any luck locating one near me :( So I spent all yesterday and today playing with my new stuff but not really accomplishing anything.

Karaoke party glass block

I love checking out the cricut message board for gift ideas and when I saw all the holiday glass blocks I new I had to make one. Every year my husband's aunt  throws a New Years Eve karaoke party and I knew she would love it if I made her a unique decoration. This project was so much easier than I imagined which makes me love it even more! I cut the image and phrase out of black vinyl using my cricut and the rock princess cartridge. The word karaoke was cut with story book. I then stuffed pink tulle and battery operated lights (from the bridal aisle) in the hole at the bottom of the block.

I'm a Barbie girl in a Barbie world..........

I made this card for my bff we are both total girly girls and love anything Barbie. I would be sooooooo happy if pc would come out with a Barbie cartridge, or even an 80's cartoon cartridge with Jem, Strawberry short cake, Garfield and of course Barbie.

I cut the girl silhouette using sweethearts and used the doily card from wild card. I got a new laptop so I couldn't use DS to weld my letters together. The way the letters are laid out looks a little awkward but considering the person I'm giving it to is completely clueless when it comes to crafts I'm not going to worry about it.

Challenges/link parties entered:
Challenge day 305: Stunning Silhouette...... with a twist at 365 cards
Sugar and spice #39 at seven thirty three

Update: I received a Spotlight Designer badge for this card! Yay!

gift wrapping

I think bows and tags are my favorite part of gift wrapping. I'm not very good at the actual wrapping part so I have to make up for it with beautiful decorations. Last year I kept putting off wrapping presents and ended up having to buy giftbags on my way to my mother in laws house christmas morning. Luckily this year because I made so many gift tags I was eager to start wrapping!

This is one of my favorite bows. I love to make it for presents and also hair bows. I think for the next gift I will attach the bow to an alligator clip so that it can be used as gift wrap and later a hair accessory I made the tag using the christmas cheer reeindeer and then decorated it whith stickles and rhinestones.
